What Is The Addiction Network

Terrible Commercials: The Addiction Network

The Addiction Network Commercial

The one problem with watching a small, nothing of a TV station is, the commercials are often very cheap, very annoying, and played constantly because that station is the only one they can afford to advertise on. And the station doesnt get a lot of traffic, so no bigger names will advertise on it. What you get is three commercial breaks every half hour where you see the same 4 or 5 commercials for years at a time.

Out of those commercials, sometimes, comes one that rules them all. The one that is so terrible, that people love it for being so terrible, so that advertiser thinks the people want more of it, so they make more and more terrible commercials. It is almost a decent show in and of itself, because everybody is always wondering just how bad can they get? Each new installment is met with wide, staring eyes, and bated breath.

Thats how J.G. Wentworth got famous. Not that its needed, but Ill have a post on them one day.

From the very first moment I saw this commercial, I was floored. It only took once. The guy acting in this is just phenomenal at being terrible. If overacting got an award, this guy should win it year after year.

Not to mention his awesome costume. I mean, hes wearing surgical scrubs.

Why is the guy in the addiction network commercial wearing surgical scrubs? Is he going to operate on the pizza center of my brain?

Andy Richter

Its okay! Im a douchebag!

Instead, hes T.A.N.

So now that we know who he is, the mystery is over.

Combating The Stigma Of Addiction

One of the biggest benefits of fully grasping the Disease Model of Addiction is helping break the stigma associated with substance abuse and dependence. Despite the fact that addiction affects millions of Americans on an annual basis, only a very small portion of the people who are in need of professional treatment end up actively seeking or receiving it. This is largely because of the widespread stigma that surrounds addiction individuals might fear that if they enter into a long-term recovery program, they will face scrutiny and judgement from their families, peers or employers. The only way to reduce the stigma is to increase public education and help men and women who are struggling with addiction understand that there is no shame in asking for help and getting treatment. One must understand that at a certain point compulsive substance use becomes entirely uncontrollable. No amount of will power on ones own can beat the strength of an addiction. Rest assured that at Guardian Recovery Network we treat each and every one of our clients with the kindness, compassion and understanding they deserve. We know that no one who is suffering at the hands of a substance abuse wants to be or has chosen to be. They are battling a disease that is stronger than they are.

What is the Disease Model of Addiction & why does it matter?

If you have ever struggled with addiction firsthand, or if you have watched someone you deeply care about struggle with addiction, you understand just how baffling and powerful it can be. It might seem like a no-brainer if you are suffering from severe consequences related to addiction, simply put down the drink or the drug. Just quit! Of course, it is far from this simple. Over time the brain adapts to the presence of the chemical substance, and drug or alcohol use becomes compulsive and uncontrollable. Understanding the Disease Model of Addiction is important to addiction recovery. At Guardian Recovery Network we focus on teaching our clients what makes addiction a disease, and how addiction recovery is made possible through this scientific model. The Guardian Recovery Network Approach To Recovery

Because addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease the brain must be re-wire itself in order for an individual to recovery. The brain has this capacity, but it takes time. The old method of treatment a 28 day stay has proven less effective than treatments that take at least 90 days. This is because it generally takes the brain a minimum of 90 days to start to re-route its circuitry.

With this in mind, Guardian Recovery Network has built a series of programs that work together to provide a streamlined progression through early recovery. We highly recommend entering into a multi-phased treatment program that moves you forward step-by-step. The journey generally begins with a medically monitored detox and progresses to inpatient treatment, followed by a thorough aftercare plan, which could include a Partial Hospitalization Program and/or Intensive Outpatient Program . Throughout the phases of treatment, Guardian Recovery Network utilizes well-researched therapeutic interventions to treat addiction. Our continuum of care is comprehensive, individualized and designed to equip individuals with all the skills they could possibly need to successfully stand on their own two feet once treatment concludes.

How Long Will First Health Network Cover Addiction Treatment?

Many health insurance companies only cover their members for a few days in a recovery center. However, First Health Network is different they will work in partnership with your physician in order to find out how long you have to remain in rehab. They do require you to go through a phase of pre-admission, meaning that you have to meet with a physician who will evaluate you and determine what kind of treatment is most appropriate for you. They will also assess how long you are likely to require the treatment. As this is medical information, it will be kept 100 percent confidential and private. If you do end up going to rehab, this will also be completely discreet and nobody will know where you are or what you are doing, unless you give express permission for this information to be shared.

Contacting An Addiction Specialist For In

Every drug rehab facility has addiction specialists whose job it is to talk with you to determine what type of drug treatment you need. That person will also take your insurance policy into account when recommending drug treatment. Pacific Source is a great insurance company, and your addiction specialist will help you get the most out of your policy.

The first step is, of course, making that connection. The facility will need to talk with you to determine what your needs are. Depending on the type of addiction you have, you may be recommended for a specific type of treatment.

These typically include the following:

  • Drug and alcohol detox
  • Intensive outpatient treatment
  • Residential drug and alcohol rehab

Once you have a recommendation, the specialist will contact your medical insurance agency for you. There’s no need for you to do that yourself. This allows them to maximize your benefits, leaving you less to pay out of pocket. As long as you choose a program that is in-network, you’ll be surprised how little you need to pay.

Winnipegger Battling Addiction Says Raam Clinic Turned Him Away

The province saw a large increase in overdose deaths in 2020 compared to 2019, and one addiction recovery organization said the problem is only getting worse.

One option for people struggling with opioid addiction is a Rapid Access to Addictions Medication clinic, or RAAM clinic.

Those clinics offer help without an appointment or referral, but some people say they were turned away at the door.

Less than two weeks ago, Katie Robson and her partner Spyder Porth were living in a tent near the Seine River.

The two are battling addictions to fentanyl, and reached out to St. Boniface Street Links for help in getting sober.

Last Tuesday, they lined up at one of Winnipegs RAAM clinics to get help but when Robson went in Porth didn’t follow.

“Then all of a sudden other people were coming in, not my boyfriend. So, I asked, ‘Where’s Spyder? Where’s my boyfriend?’ and they said, ‘Oh, he didn’t get in,” said Robson.

RAAM clinics are drop in facilities for people looking to get help with addiction to high-risk substances like fentanyl and other opioids.

Suboxone is given to the patient so they can overcome their addiction without going through the pain of withdrawal symptoms.

Robson said Porth was turned away because the clinic didn’t have the resources to help everyone in line.

“I wanted to do this together as a team, and for him to be turned away like that, it was unfair,” said Robson.

Porth said he felt hopeless when he couldn’t get into the clinic.

First Health Network And Inpatient And Outpatient Coverage

Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, anyone who has a group health insurance plan will also be able to receive treatment for alcohol or drug abuse problems. While this means that the law focuses on treating those with a mental health problem, most people with abuse disorders also have some sort of mental health difficulty. So long as your First Health Network policy covers you for it, you can attend both in network health care providers and the hospital. You can go to an out of network provider as well, so long as your policy states that you can. This means that you have the opportunity to look for facilities that are near where you are, but also beyond, if you need a clean break from your environment.

Social Media And Mental Health

Research has shown that there is an undeniable link between social media use, negative mental health, and low self-esteem. While social media platforms have their benefits, using them too frequently can make people feel increasingly unhappy and isolated. These negative emotional reactions are not only produced due to the social pressure of sharing things with others but also the comparison of material things and lifestyles that these sites promote.

Featured Center Offering Social Media Addiction Treatment

Recent studies have found that frequent social network users believe that other users are happier and more successful than they are, especially when they do not know them very well in real life. Social media facilitates an environment in which people are comparing their realistic offline selves to the flawless, filtered, and edited online versions of others, which can be detrimental to mental well-being and perception of self. Excessive social media use can not only cause unhappiness and a general dissatisfaction with life in users but also increase the risk of developing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Constantly comparing oneself to others can lead to feelings of self-consciousness or a need for perfectionism and order, which often manifests as social anxiety disorder.

Health Insurance Reimbursement Explained

When you don’t choose an in-network drug rehab or alcohol rehab, you usually have to pay for treatment upfront. This creates such a financial hardship for many people. Quite often, patients don’t realize how much their addiction treatment is going to cost. If you’re in need of drug or alcohol detox, it may cost you several thousand dollars to get help. This will, of course, depend on the type of treatment you need. If you’re in need of inpatient rehab, you will be paying even more.

Out of network rehab facilities will require that you cover these expenses immediately. You are then reimbursed by PacificSource. Reimbursement can be very difficult, and quite frustrating.

Your health insurance company will only pay a certain amount of money toward rehabilitation services, unless they are in-network. Health insurance may reimburse you as little as 50% of the money that you paid to get help. You may have to wait weeks or even months before that money comes through to you.

If PacificSource is your health insurance agency, they will pay a lot toward your treatment. However, they will only do so if you chose an in-network alcohol treatment or drug treatment facility. It really is to your advantage to do so.

How Social Media Affects The Brain

Due to the effect that it has on the brain, social media is addictive both physically and psychologically. According to a new study by Harvard University, self-disclosure on social networking sites lights up the same part of the brain that also ignites when taking an addictive substance. The reward area in the brain and its chemical messenger pathways affect decisions and sensations. When someone experiences something rewarding or uses an addictive substance, neurons in the principal dopamine-producing areas in the brain are activated and dopamine levels rise. Therefore, the brain receives a reward and associates the drug or activity with positive reinforcement.

This is observable in social media usage when an individual gets a notification, such as a like or mention, the brain receives a rush of dopamine and sends it along reward pathways, causing the individual to feel pleasure. Social media provides an endless amount of immediate rewards in the form of attention from others for relatively minimal effort. The brain rewires itself through this positive reinforcement, making people desire likes, retweets, and emoticon reactions.
