While working as an assistant county attorney for Lawrence County, Kentucky, in 2006, Tim Robinson Jr, an alcoholic back then, felt a deep awakening to inspire others as he learned to transform his life. Crown Recovery Center Celebrates Ribbon Cutting In Springfield
The former St. Catharine College campus is full of life once again and serving a new purpose in the Springfield community. Crown Recovery Center, a residential treatment facility, held a formal ribbon cutting on the campus last week.
Sister Barbara Sullivan, the coordinator for the St. Catharine Motherhouse, attended the ceremony in the gym, welcoming hundreds gathered to celebrate the occasion. Sullivan recalled the sisters being approached by officials about their thoughts on opening the recovery center on the campus.
Our first reaction was, this is a really good thing and its really consistent with the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, Sullivan told the crowd on Monday. We are happy to welcome you this morning.
The ceremony was the first time Sullivan had visited the campus gym since the college closed in 2016. It was a bittersweet memory to reflect on the loss of the school but the gain of a new initiative helping those in need.
We are grateful Crown Recovery is here and we will continue to be neighbors, hopefully for a long time, she said.
