New Directions Addiction Recovery Services Crystal Lake Il 60014
New Directions Addiction Recovery Services provides a variety of services to residents suffering from drug and alcohol abuse. The centers treatment approach begins with detoxification, where most addicts undergo an initial cleanse to remove toxins from their bodies. This preliminary step allows clients to reduce cravings for drugs and alcohol, while strengthening the bodys natural ability to heal itself. During this stage, residents are taught to prepare healthy meals, exercise more frequently, and avoid stimulants like coffee, cigarettes, and even pizzas. Once detoxified, residents move on to stabilization, where they learn to deal with emotional and physical stressors that cause relapse and addiction.
In addition to an after- detoxification plan, New Directions focuses on rebuilding a broken family structure and reestablishing a sense of self. The goal is to help recovering addicts build a support system of peers who will work with them to make healthy decisions throughout their recovery and life in general. Members of the sober living environment team meet twice weekly for walk-in therapy sessions and engage in group discussions, one-on-one counseling, and phone calls to update friends on progress. While the primary focus of the treatment program is client-focused, it is important for families to know that the staff is available to provide their loved ones with emotional, medical, and spiritual support during their recovery.

What We Aim To Solve
Alcoholism and addiction can be isolating experiences that tear families apart, and there is an overwhelming necessity in Northern Illinois for substance abuse prevention efforts. There have been over 150 reported overdoses in McHenry County alone between 2015-2017, most of those being young people. There is a lack of resources in our community when it comes to transitional living, and we are seeing patterns of individuals going into 30-day treatment centers only to relapse shortly after getting out on their own. This lack of support after initial treatment has been destroying the lives of young people and tearing families apart.

What Isnew Directions Sober Living
Recovery is never as easy and uncomplicated as just quitting cold turkey and immediately switching to a normal lifestyle, as if thered never been substance abuse in the first place. It takes many months and years of training up good habits, learning about your new self, and building a support system that keeps you on the right track and is there for you if times get tough.A big part of that process is making sure you have a constructive, healthy environment to grow in. It can be hard to resist drugs and alcohol if theyre a presence in your own home, or if you live alone and feel you need someone around to keep you focused. And it can be especially hard to set up a positive environment for yourself if youve just gotten out of a rehab centre and dont know where you can go next.Thats why a sober house is an important option to consider. And if youre in the Chicago area, New Directions Addiction Recovery Services has houses for both males and females in Crystal Lake that could be the next step thats right for you.

What Is A Sober Living Home
In many ways, a sober living is exactly what it sounds like. Its a home exclusively for residents who are going through recovery, and is run by professionals who help them through the process. However, a sober house is not a rehabilitation center, even though the staff are accredited substance abuse professionals. A rehab center administers treatment, whereas a sober houses are meant to help people transition back into everyday life after theyve left that treatment. Residents have the opportunity to get their foot in the door and begin leading a productive life as part of a community. This is important because often, recovering substance users have nowhere to go after theyre released from rehab. Maybe they cant go back home because they lived with other drug users, or they arent ready to live alone where they might be tempted to relapse.A sober house provides services that help them plan their next move while they live in a stable and safe environment that helps them keep their sobriety going.Of course, to maintain this environment for everyone in the home, there are requirements that the residents need to fulfill. These often include:
- Staying sober the entire duration of the stay
- Completing daily chores to help maintain the home
- Attending weekly or daily 12-step program meetings
- Following a curfew
- Staying considerate of other residents
- Keeping your sleeping area clean
- No relationships with fellow residents
- No lending money to fellow residents
- No smoking on the premises
