We also recognize that addiction impacts not just the person with the disease, but also the people who are closest to them. Therefore, we offer a unique Family component as part of each residents treatment stay.
To address the variety of needs presented by our residents, we also offer specialty groups including Anger-Management, GED classes, Yoga, Mindful Based Relapse Prevention, and women-specific programming and lectures.
We also provide opportunities to volunteer in community activities ranging from the annual Lake Placid IronMan triathlon in July, to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in February and several other events.

SARANAC LAKE Getting clean from substance abuse in the North Country just got a little easier. St. Josephs Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers new detoxification center in Saranac Lake officially opened two weeks ago.
Addiction and substance abuse experts around the area are excited about the centers opening, which provides the ability to detox from drugs and alcohol close to home, without traveling hours away to other centers or detoxing at hospitals, which have lower rates of long-term success.
St. Josephs Detoxification Services Director Sam Hall said since the new Robert R. Reiss Community Service Center opened on March 14, theres been a trickle of clients through the center. He said with the eight people who have sought detox services there so far, theyve had 100% success of getting them through the detox portion to the next level of treatment.
Hall said the center has at most seen three residents at one time, but it has 10 beds available. The goal there is to get people clean from substances like opiates, alcohol, cocaine or methamphetamine and connect them with treatment to stop relapses, or repeated episodes, he said.
Years ago, the state found that only around 17% of people detoxing at a hospital and moving on to the next level of treatment were successful, Hall said.

St Josephs Opens Detoxification Center In Saranac Lake
SARANAC LAKE St. Josephs Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers recently opened a new detox center.
The new center named the Robert R. Reiss Community Service Center opened at 50 John Munn Road in Saranac Lake to provide around-the-clock detoxification treatment with the intention of a subsequent transition to the appropriate level of continued treatment for individuals experiencing alcohol and/or drug crises, according to a press release.
Detoxification treatment options in the north country had previously been more limited. Other options are available in neighboring counties and in Syracuse and Albany.
The 10-bed Medically Supervised Withdrawal and Stabilization Program licensed through the state Office of Addiction Services and Supports provides 24-hour assistance for people overcoming light to moderate withdrawal symptoms within a safe environment.
This service provides the bridge between crisis and treatment, which is crucial in building a road to recovery, said Sam Hall, St. Josephs director of Detoxification Services.
The new center also houses St. Josephs expanded Saranac Lake Outpatient Clinic, which provides a connection to the agencys Open Access Center, where connections for people in need with support for alcohol, drug and mental health challenges are made.
The detox center provides medical and clinical assessments, individualized lengths of stay, case management, treatment groups and recovery support and treatment planning.
