If those expectations are not properly addressed and discussed, conflict can certainly arise. Be sure to discuss home management matters with your spouse so that your home can function smoothly and provide a haven of peace and tranquility for your family.

Sexual intimacy in marriage is a beautiful and sacred union between a husband and wife that God designed specifically for the purpose of marriage. We as believers must fight hard to protect the sacred union and purpose of sexual intimacy in our marriages.
Feel free to use these Scriptures below to pray for this essential area in your Christian marriage.

Many people struggle with addiction because they have an underlying mental illness that is beyond their control. Jesus loves them and wants them to be happy, healthy, whole and holy as their spouse, how can you model that?
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. -Proverbs 4:23
Some spouses are vindictive, cruel, and abusive. These spouses need firm boundaries, and you may find that you will need to leave your marriage. In my experience, the larger majority of people struggling with addictions are hurting, and feel trapped or broken. If your spouse sounds like the latter, maintaining good boundaries while taking care of your health and future may be enough to support your relationship. People do heal. Addiction can change. There is hope. Dont give up on them- just be smart about it!
Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing. -Luke 23:34

What I Say Doesnt Matter
Anger, tears, apathy, manipulation, begging, and belittling are a few of the ways that we try to talk our loved ones out of their struggle. Words are a big deal to me. I say a lot of them, write a lot of them, and I take the words of others to heart . I love using thorough words to communicate my exact thoughts and feelings. When my boyfriend started admitting little things about his new harmful habits, I was often at a loss for words. What should I say to encourage him to stop? What if my words push him away? How can I convey my concern and change his heart, but not lose him?
Fast-forward several years, we are newly wedded and Im coming home to find him high-as-a-kite more often than not. My concern had turned to deep desperation. Sometimes anger spurred mean words and accusations. Sometimes hurt poured out tears and I would beg him to stop. I tried threats, I tried to shame him, I tried anything I could think of to pierce his heart. It wasnt until I decided to turn it over to God and to really trust Him, that I began to see any change.
I know the power of words well, so I turned my efforts into a firm, but kind approach. I took the words I poured onto my husband and started to pour them out to God in prayer. Instead of begging my husband to stop, I started begging God to move. Instead of crying to get my way, I was crying to my Heavenly Father, who loves me and holds me.
Some words that helped me heal and move:

Bible Verses About Marriage & What They Mean
If you’re wondering what the Bible says about marriage, the verses we’ve gathered below may be a helpful starting point for understanding God’s promises for marriage. Whether you’re looking for marriage Bible verses for your wedding vows or simply want meaningful marriage scriptures for your officiant to share during their wedding sermon, finding a special passage is a great way to ensure your vow exchange is beautiful and memorable. There is also the infamous musical rendition of 1 Corinthians 13:2-7 “Love is patient, love is kind” â “Love” recorded by Joni Mitchell â that could be suitable for a musical interlude.
Rev. Birchfield advises that “couples should consider some of the lessons or tools they’ve learned in premarital counseling and find marriage scriptures that speak to that. Passages chosen should also be scriptures that are hopeful in nature and that will guide them as they head into the adventure and unknown of their marriage.”
To remember these verses long after your big day has passed, you could consider having them memorialized as wedding vow art or a home decor accent to keep your special day close to your heart.
