The Program Committee and the Executive Committee of the Society of Addiction Psychology are thrilled to host the 10th annual Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction conference.

CPA has always represented a tremendous opportunity to present exciting research, network with scholars with shared interests, and learn about the latest addiction psychology research. The CPA community has steadily grown over the past decade, and we invite you to celebrate the 10-year milestone with us! Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and the associated challenges in the last couple years, we thank you for your patience and continued support. According to our brief poll among Society of Addiction Psychology members, there were strong interests for an in-person scientific meeting for 2022. With the approval and full-forced support from the SoAP Executive Committee, we are committed to hosting a safe and engaging in-person conference. CPA2022 will be held in Portland, Oregon during April 7-9, 2022.

Consistent with past conferences, CPA2022 will offer opportunities to give and attend symposium and poster presentations, and participate in network programming and social events for professionals, postdoctoral scholars, graduate and post-baccalaureate trainees, and undergraduate students. We also offer several travel and registration awards to attendees whose proposals are highly rated by peer-reviewers.

Do I Have To Appear Every Time For Court

What Your Dui Evaluation Entails

IDHS reviews four different things during your DUI evaluation: your Objective Test score and category, your blood alcohol content test results, your driving history, and a brief interview given at the evaluation. The interview will be about your drug and alcohol use and will be checked against the other reviewed items and possibly other sources. In the end, they will then give a recommendation to the Court or Office of the Secretary of State concerning your sentencing and driving privileges. You may also be asked to provide a urine sample at the time of the evaluation.

The four recommendations and what they mean are:

• Minimal risk: the accused poses a minimal threat on the road and needs to complete a minimum of ten hours of DUI Risk Education.
• Moderate risk: the accused must complete a minimum of 10 hours of DUI Risk Education and a minimum of 12 hours of early intervention. The early intervention must occur over a minimum of four weeks with no more than three hours a day in any seven consecutive days.
• Significant risk: the accused must complete a minimum of 10 hours of DUI Risk education, a minimum of 20 hours of substance abuse treatment, and any activities as part of an ongoing care plan.
• High risk: the accused must complete a minimum of 75 hours of substance abuse treatment and all activities specified in an ongoing care plan.

The Consequences Of Drug Abuse

In 2017, the cost of drug abuse in the US was nearly $272 billion, taking into account crime, healthcare needs, lost work productivity and other impacts on society.

• $193 billion was incurred in overall costs for illegal drugs in addition to $78.5 billion for prescription opioids.
• $11 billion was incurred in healthcare costs related to the use of illegal drugs and $26 billion for prescription opioids.
• 326,000 hospitalizations occurred for nonfatal drug poisonings or overdoses occurred in 2016, including unintentional, undetermined intent, and intentional self-harm.
• 577,794 emergency room visits occurred for nonfatal drug poisonings or overdoses in 2016 with the most patients experiencing opioid poisoning.
• There are new psychoactive substances entering the market every year. Between 2012 and 2016, the number of known psychoactive substances being sold increased from 269 to 479.
• Drug abuse often results in comorbidity- nearly 50% of persons who have substance abuse disorder also experience mental illness.

Drug Abuse Among Demographics

Statistics indicate that some demographics and communities face elevated risks of drug abuse and drug disorders.

• Persons previously abusing drugs and recently released from prison are at the highest risk for overdose as their tolerance to the drug has dropped while being incarcerated.
• Club drugs such as ecstasy, meth, cocaine, ketamine, LSD, and GHB are primarily used in higher-income settings by young people.
• Among lower-income users, the most commonly used drugs are inhalants such as paint thinner, gasoline, paint, correction fluid and glue.
• 6.3 million LGBT+ adults had a substance or mental abuse disorder or both.
• 7% of LGBT+ adults struggled with illegal drugs.
• 2% of LGBT+ adults struggled with alcohol abuse.

• 3% indicated a serious mental illness.

Clarke Institute Of Psychiatry

The institute was founded in 1966 and officially opened by Ontario Premier John P. Robarts. It was named the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry, after Charles Kirk Clarke, a pioneer in mental health in Canada. The institute took over the clinical, teaching, and research functions of the Toronto Psychiatric Hospital, located at 2 Surrey Place, which opened in 1925 under Clarence B. Farrar. The Institute served as the main psychiatry teaching hospital for the University of Toronto and was the headquarters for the Department of Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine. The first Medical and Executive Director of the Clarke was Charles Roberts, and the first Psychiatrist-in-Chief was Aldwyn B. Stokes. When Stokes retired in 1967, the administration was reorganized, and Robin Hunter became Medical Director and Psychiatrist-in-Chief.

Fredrick H. Lowy served as Psychiatrist-in-Chief of the Clarke from 1974 until 1980, followed by Vivian Rakoff from 1980 to 1990, and Paul E. Garfinkel from 1990 until the Clarke’s 1998 merger into CAMH.

Upon its merger into CAMH in 1998, the Clarke building become known as the CAMH College Street site. Conrad Black has been a generous supporter of the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry.

CAMH has been undergoing a three phase redevelopment centered at its Queen Street site, with four goals:1) Deliver a new model of care and provide a healthy environment that promotes recovery 2) Bring together the best research, clinical, education, health promotion, and policy experts in one place to change the future of mental health and addictions 3) Revitalize the City of Toronto by opening up their site and by creating an inclusive new nine-block neighbourhood that benefits all and,4) Change attitudes by breaking down barriers to eliminate the stigma of mental health. Phase 1A was undertaken by Eastern Construction and completed in 2008 and Phase 1B was undertaken by Carillion and completed in 2012. Phase 1C is being undertaken by PCL Construction and is expected to be complete in 2020.

In 2008, CAMH announced the completion of four new buildings to accommodate CAMH’s Addiction and Mood & Anxiety Programs.

The Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute was established with a $30 million donation in 2011 from Linda Campbell, Gaye Farncombe, and Susan Grange, each granddaughters of Canadian magnate Roy Thomson and nieces of Ken Thomson. About The Dui Evaluation Process In Illinois

In Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County, the Central States Institute of Addiction is responsible for evaluating anyone apprehended for driving under the influence in Cook County.

CSIA provides intervention services through an Offender Assessment process. Staff consider the offenders oral self-reports, scores from written questionnaires, and outside data, including BAC levels, officers sworn reports and Secretary of State driving records in order to assess the offenders risk of repeating the offense.

Clients assessed by CSIA are then classified according to their risk level of repeating the DUI offense: minimal risk, moderate risk, or significant risk. CSIA staff prepares the Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Report. CSIA also provides monitoring and tracking services for all defendants sentenced as minimal or moderate risk and who have been sentenced to either supervision or conditional discharge.
